Regarding timeline apps, I did some checking and I’m surprised how few there are that let you build your own timeline. One of the reasons we advocate creating a book of centuries (basically a timeline in a book) is that it helps the student form his own connections to the history. A pre-made timeline app doesn’t do that because it only spoon feeds you pre-made facts.

The Knowledge Quest app already mentioned is one that lets you create your own timeline. I haven’t personally tried it so I would love to hear from those who have or are aware of other apps that let you create your own.

Thanks Doug! I bought the Knowledge Quest app and will play around with it during our Christmas break so I’m ready to let my kid use it once we go back to class. I will let you guys know how it goes!

Here’s another fun app that was just released. It’s called Foldify. You can design paper objects that can be printed and then folded into 3D objects. It shares some concepts that Charlotte Mason used with “Paper Sloyd” for math but with a modern twist. Sloyd is discussed in the mathematics book we recently released and there was a forum discussion about sloyd too.
