Hi Lauren, we are SW of the Twin Cities – south of Prior Lake/Shakopee.  I was just in your neck of the woods this weekend for the MACHE conference.  🙂  For co-ops, when you join MACHE, they have a listing of co-ops throughout MN.  I had a hard time finding co-ops around my area until I joined MACHE.  And this year there were so many co-ops in the area, it was a little crazy!  🙂

MACHE is a wonderful organization to join, and I agree with Sara B. that they are helpful in finding support groups or co-ops though I haven’t found a Charlotte Mason co-op.  I really enjoyed the conference in Rochester and seeing Simply Charlotte Mason there along with Sonya, Doug, & Karen.  I picked up some more Picture Study Portfolios.  My husband and I live in Minneapolis near the downtown area with our four children.  Our oldest DS is 9.

Sara, yeah I missed out on the MACHE conference this year. I have a nursing baby and just figured it would be too difficult to really focus on what I needed to do. So is next year’s in Duluth then? I just joined MACHE and contacted some co-ops so I’m excited about that.

Yes, MACHE is a wonderful organization.  Yes, Lauren, it is in Duluth next year.  It rotates every year (Rochester, Duluth, Minneapolis, Rochester, etc).

@johnnyyvette, I’m in the metro and I haven’t found any CM co-ops either.  We’ve tried a couple of co-ops over the years but the educational philosophy didn’t match with mine.  I met a lot of wonderful women, though. 🙂

So how do you start a simple co-op or something similar?

Hey, I’m in Farmington. My oldest will be 5 in October, and I have 3 others. Does anyone want to try to start up something? At least a time to get some ideas, suggestions, and support out. Let me know!

We’re in southern MN! It’s nice to know others are “nearby”! 🙂

I live in Minneapolis and love SCM!  My husband, being a technical geek, is always impressed with Doug’s technology updates to SCM.  He also appreciates the e-books so that our bookshelves aren’t quite so full. Smile  I love when we can get out of the city to do some nature study outside of our small backyard or neighborhood park.

I’d like to go, but I would need to bring my one-month-old with me.
