I know quite a few of you make your own cleaning products, laundry soap, deodorant, etc.  I’d like to start trying this, but where should I begin?  Of course, I’ve done some internet searches, but there’s so much out there.  Do any of you have one particular site that lists the recipes you use or a book that you’d suggest?  How about some tried and true recipes?

    Thanks!

I make my own laundry detergent like this:

    2 cups washing soda

    2 cups Borax

1 finely grated bar of Fels Naptha

1 finely grated bar Dr. Bronner’s soap (any scent)

(I combine the Fels Naptha and Dr. Bronner’s because I like the scent of Dr. Bronner’s, but the Fels Naptha really works great with stains and such.)

    In a nutshell:

Deodorant from the above Passionate Homemaking site….works awesome…much better than store-bought natural.

Trader Joes toothpaste, dishwasher detergent, laundry soap.  I use their natural dish soap mixed 50/50 w/water in all my soap dispensers…very economical.

Vinegar and water for windows and kitchen counters.

Dr. Bonner’s soap w/water for cleaning.

Vitacost.com for natural shampoos and personal care products (good prices).  That’s mainly it:)  Blessings, Gina
