Me and 2 other moms did “school time” together this year. One of us stayed with the little ones, one momma was helping with the kinder/1st graders and I mainly taught two 3rd graders and one 6th grader. The younger kids did Beautiful Feet Books Around the World with picture books for geography and went through the new testament for Bible (didn’t do any additional history apart from biblical history timeline). The older kids finished up US geography, the Old testament, and Early American History from Beautiful Feet Books.

We will be one grown up short in our group next year, but with the same amount of kids. I am wanted to do as much group learning as possible, but don’t want the oldest to miss out on all that she should be learning.

I’ve always wanted to use the SCM history/Bible/geography modules, but I’m having a hard time figuring out if I should start that with everyone next year or utilize Beautiful Feet books one more year to complete the around the world studies for geography and westward expansion for history. I was thinking we could read aloud the little house books for literature and incorporate some hands on lessons for history as well.

I just can’t fully wrap my head around next year and would love some outside perspective!

Do you forsee yourselves staying together for more years?  With being 1 adult down, SCM history guides would be a great place to start.  Remember that the children (including the younger ones) have an entire lifetime of learning so even if they do not complete Around the World with picture books, they will have many, many years to touch on the countries they would learn about with Around the World history guides.
