How many history guides a year does a highschooler need to complete to get enough credits? I will have a freshman in the fall and was wondering what you would recommend for the full four years. thank you!
momto2blessingsParticipantJust bumping you:) I believe it used to be one world history credit for the first three guides (ancients), one credit for 4th (MA/Ren/Ref), and 1/2 American and 1/2 World for both guides 5 and 6. The first three guides have a lot of Bible. If you did a separate program for that you could potentially just do the history in the three guides in one year with a high schooler. But with the new guides coming out that may be different! As far as how many credits, I don’t have a high schooler yet….but I think it depends on your state and where they might attend college. Hopefully others will chime in:) Blessings, Gina
memomo7ParticipantNot sure if this is what you’re looking for, but here’s a link to a thread with Sonya’s breakdown of the history credits http://simplycharlottemason.com/scmforum/topic/combining-scm-guides-for-high-school-credits#post-79959
hth!
momto2blessingsParticipantThat’s it! I just wasn’t sure if the new guides were structured the same:)
mom2fiveParticipantHere’s another post about credits in reference to the new guides http://simplycharlottemason.com/scmforum/topic/high-school-credit-for-history-modules-question-for-sonya
makdonnellyMemberOk, so if the revised versions are good for a full credit, where do i start for 9th? there ar four years of hs and 6 guides…
momto2blessingsParticipantI haven’t done this, but it might work if you did something different for Bible.
Jackie BetancourtParticipantHi makdonnelly, did you ever get a response for your question? It’s a great question, and I am interested in finding out as well. Thanks!
Blessings, Jackie in TN
missceegeeParticipantLook at requirements for HS graduation in your state as well as college admission requirements. Make sure those bases are covered. Then, I’d go with interest perhaps covering one or more or adding books where desired.
