Hi! I am new here and i have a question about getting started with high school, especially history.  We currently use the CM method and I don’t want to change just because it is high school.  Our local college (in GA) requires 1 credit for World His, 1 credit for US His and 1 credit for Economics and Government. The only program i can find that will really fit this schedule (without making my own and tracking hours) is ABEKA. I have always stayed clear of ABEKA since it is so NOT CM, but now i am thinking about using it as a spine and using Living Books. I have also considered Mystery of History the same way, but it would take too many years to get it all in with that program. I have a 5th grader and a 9th grader and they have always done history together wtih MFW (or my own ecclectic programs) and i have just supplemented a lot for the older child. I would like to have them at least on the same time period for 5th and 9th. Any suggestions????  Thanks so much!! I have learned so much already from reading this site!

I have just continued the same right on thru high school.  Just using higher level books that I’ve selected from one or more lists.  See the free curriculum guide here for the general idea.  I’ll try to link to it below…but it sounds like you’ve already got it.  You can just keep doing like you’ve been done and you’ll have it covered!

My attempt at a link isn’t working…just go to the main page of this website and choose Free Curriculum Guide in the top left corner/box…  then click on history and select a module/time period to look at.  Hope that helps!

It sounds like Mod 5 & 6 are what you need for your world history and US history credits (that would cover early modern to modern).  You could count 1/2 a credit for each both years to give you one full credit for both world and US history.

The credits do not have to be done in the same year. So Modules 5 and 6 work great (1/2 credit US and 1/2 credit World for each module). Then you can do economics and government in another year.

Oops. 4myboys just said that. 🙂
