My son is finishing ninth grade and does well in all subjects, except math.  He is finishing Algebra I Teaching Textbooks and really struggles to understand it.  I was using a math tutor at one point but ran into scheduling problems.  I am not sure how much the tutoring really helped though because when it came to doing it on his own, my son still struggled.  He is signed up for Algebra II next year at his co-op.  Any suggestions?  It just boggles my mind that he does well in so many subjects and does well on standardized tests (except for math) and can’t seem to “get” math.  It has always been a struggle for him.

We found MUS Algebra to be easier and more straightforward than TT. I switched one of my boys to it about 2/3 the way through TT because of similar issues. We had much better success and I’d wished we had switched sooner. I don’t think I would sign up for Algebra 2 without a thorough understanding of Algebra 1. I hope you find something that works.
