I am a new comer to Cm and struggling with the History/Geo. My 9 year old has been learning from BoB Jones and I wanted a differnt learning experience for him. I also have a 6 yera old. My 9 yr old  just finished last school year the Revolutionary war and the Signing of the Delclaration of Independence. It was textbook and I wish he could have gotton more out of this era by reading stories but we stuck to the curriculumn. I would like to start my 6 y old 1st grader who has not yet had any “American History” with the Old world -New world Christopher columbus to the Pilgrims  to the Revolutionary war and would like to see my 9 year old have a more in depth study of this time frame. I have bought Module 3 but I think now that was the wrong one to start with. Do you think that Module 4 or 5 would be more appropriate? I have been looking over Module 3 and looking through Famous Men of Rome and Oxford First Ancient History and really feel that its too much for my 6 year old.  Is there a guide for Modules 4-6 How would I plan reading the stories ect.. A book, chapter or paragraph per day? Im really struggling here. Any suggestions would be helpful. I want them to get through Modules 1-3 also but I really want my youngest one to be ready for some of the material that I have looked through that  seems too “advanced” for him and I want to teach them together.

I’m a newbie to all this, too, but I know many CMers like Truth Quest guides. Its set for gr. 1-5 is American history, and could be used with multiple ages, I think. (My oldest is in kindergarten, so I’m not doing history/geography yet).

The guides for Modules 4-6 are in process but not published yet. It seems like Beautiful Feet might be a good fit right now if you want to do Early American History. They use living books and I believe they have lessons all laid out for both primary and intermediate grade levels for that time period. You might take a look and see what you think.
