We are doing SCM Modern Times this coming year and I need to replace The Red Badge of Courage and Bully for You, Teddy Roosevelt as we studied these a few years ago.

    Do you have any suggestions?

Three books that might fit the bill are:

Robert E. Lee on Leadership : Executive Lessons in Character, Courage, and Vision Paperback by H.W. Crocker III

Virginia’s General: Robert E. Lee and the Civil War by Albert Marrin (Author) and its companion Unconditional Surrender:U. S. Grant and the Civil War by Albert Marrin

For the Teddy Roosevelt book the National Book Award winner Mornings on Horseback: The Story of an Extraordinary Family, a Vanished Way of Life and the Unique Child Who Became Theodore Roosevelt by David McCullough. I havent read this particular book, but David McCullough is a favorite author of mine.

    —Uncle Tom’s Cabin

    Roosevelt:

—David McCullough’s Mornings on Horseback – mentioned above by curlywhirly

    —Theodore Roosevelt’s Autobiography/Strenuous Life/Letters to His Children

    One book suggestion here:

    Traveller by Richard Adams

Examines the events of the Civil War through the eyes of General Robert E. Lee’s closest companion and devoted horse, Traveller.

We found this through inter-library loan.
