uggg – while I can’t help you there, I can sypathize on the sticker shock! We are going to be going with The Easy French – but no matter which program I pick, it will be by far the most expensive purchase for homeschooling we have EVER made!
I don’t know if this meets your criteria, but we just started using Mango (my daughter is pretty young and I don’t have much criterias—just wanted some language exposure/speaking/native speakers and online so I don’t have to do anything right now!) I get it free from a neighboring library. If you find a library that has it, often they’ll sell a membership for like $30/yr. and you can use all the languages the program offers. Just ignore if that’s not what you’re looking for:) Gina
We just had a discussion on this a couple weeks ago…here’s the link! We are going with Easy French, it’s Christian based and they emphasize reaching the world for the L*rd.
We tried First Start French by Memoria Press, but the pronunciation CD was AWFUL! We have been using Learn French in 10 minutes a Day with a CD-Rom and that has been fun. The computer componant is nice. I guess that is why I have narrowed it down to the two programs in my first post. No Mango at my library, so that isn’t an option .
Heather, if you are willing to look at other options. 🙂 Personally I found The Easy . . . series silly and not equivalent to a high school level course. We use Breaking the French Barrier. It is $65, comes with well-done CD’s. http://www.tobreak.com/the-program/the-french-series
Bookworm, you were right! I am glad you chimed in. Breaking the Barrier looks much more like the kind of French course I imagined for a highschool student.
Thank You!!!
Heather
