I have been research foreign language programs (esp. French) in hopes to get started next year, DD will be 9 and starting 4th grade.  Just wondering if anyone has used this or even looked at it to get some input/opinions on it.  It looked good from the information on thie website.

I haven’t seen that one before – but another option that a few people recommended on here is The Easy French:

Wow!  The Easy French programs looks wonderful.  It may even be an answer to prayer!   My daughter insists on learning French which is fine with me, I had a little in HS and look forward to doing it again.  I love the idea that you can memorize Scripture in French! Wow!

You sound exactly like me about 2 weeks ago when someone recommended this program!  I was praying about what to do, when I stumbled across a thread about teaching french and a few people recommended this.  I had some French in HS, can’t wait to do it again and LOVED that this was a CM friendly Christian based program!

Would you believe that before I got back here I had been exstensively researching the Easy French website and was very impressed too.  I also like the Christian friendly aspect.  Anyone know how it compares to the popular Rosetta Stone with pros and cons academically?  Thanks!

How funny!  I hadn’t even heard of the Easy French before someone mentioned it here.  One of the many reasons I love this site!  Who knew there would be a Christian French program!?  I never even thought to look for one!

As for Rosetta Stone, again, I can only repeat what I’ve learned from here, but it seemed to have quite a few negative reviews.  Apparently it used to be offered in libraries, but once it was pulled, it seemed most people didn’t think it was worth the money and were happy that they had a chance to test it in the libraries before buying it.  A lot of people mentioned it was dry.  There were a few reviews of people who loved it, but it seemed the negative outweighed the positive reviews.

Hopefully someone who has actually use the program will chime in!

Yes, bb’s like this are SO helpful!  Interesting note, I talked with my DD today about what language she really wants to learn, she wants to continue with more Spanish (she had it in PvSch during 2nd gr last year; thankfully there is an Easy Spanish! program too!!) and then learn German.  She isn’t that interested in French, guess I want to learn it for me Laughing She did suggest while she learns Spanish I learn French LOL

On Rosetta Stone, those are the things I’ve discovered about it here and on other bb’s.  It is good, popular and expensive LOL but I do think I would like the Easy French! or Easy Spanish! better.  I would only go with RS if I could have borrowed it from the library or get a great buy through the homeschool co-op online.
