    Hello everyone!

I’m Jen and I just graduated my first homeschooler in May and have four more children still schooling with me.  We haven’t been using SCM for awhile, but used History Modules 1 through 5 in the past.  We have always put a little CM into our schooling.  We’ve used copywork, delayed grammar instruction, have done lots of family read-alouds, etc, but haven’t actually embraced CM completely.  In the past few weeks I’ve been pouring over the SCM website and feel completely recharged and ready to embrace the CM style of homeschooling as we never have before.  I’m very excited!  And that’s something I haven’t felt about homeschooling in quite awhile.  I’ve LOVED homeschooling my kids, don’t get me wrong, but the excitement and joy I used to feel has not been present in quite some time.  I’m not sure why I didn’t embrace CM sooner, but regrets will get me nowhere.  And honestly, my recent graduate is an awesome kid who loves the Lord, loves his family, and is an amazing guitar player and young songwriter and he’s starting community college classes in two days.  Even thinking that, as I sit here I wish I had more time with him.   That he could do CM with us this year!  It’s been a difficult few months learning to let go.  My five little ducklings aren’t schooling with me for the first time in years.  The time sure flew.

So this year I’m going back to the beginnning.  Module 1.  I will be using it with ds16, dd13, ds11, and dd8.    I bought the updated guide and books and geography.  We will not be diving into Latin yet, although my oldest son did do a year of Latin.  My ds16 is dyslexic and really has other things he needs to work on more, but we are going to spend time memorizing Latin/Greek word roots for 10 minutes each day.  It looks to be a challenging year with a feast of great books, ideas, etc.

Happy Homeschooling everyone!  May we all not take for granted this extremely special time in our lives and have a wonderful new school year.

Thanks! We started school on the 13th.  The same day as my oldest ds started cc.  We’re three days in and so far so good!  I already know we’re going to love history this year.  My littles have never done a formal study of ancient Egypt and they find it so interesting already.  I find it very doable in the way SCM sets it up.  Love it!
