Our family will be spending 2-3 weeks in September traveling in an RV with my parents.  We are going to attempt to continue school.  My 5 and 7 yo boys will need activites to keep them busy each day while contained Smile.  Do you have any ideas for easy traveling handicrafts that have worked well for you.  Thanks.

My girls love beads, but I am not going to recommend them in a moving RV.  LOL

Foam, pipe cleaner and pompom creatures, plastic figures with playdough (recreate places they’ve just seen), rock and mineral collections (collecting and identifying), plant and leaf collections, writing a travel book or journal, indoor scavenger hunts, fun trivia games…have them learn to make non-cook related foods (fruit salad, etc)….

my ds actually liked learning how to knot friendship bracelets. I thought it would be too ‘girly’ for him but he enjoyed it and liked giving them away. Even now at 16 he will sometimes pull out the hemp and beads and knot up a bracelet for his sister or friends, or himself..I think it was a Klutz book that got them started. Klutz books are awesome for travelling, they have cool ones with model planes, castles, pirate ships etc..plastic coated and very sturdy! Also audio books!

I have used the non-drying modeling clay in a plastic food storage container when we are on trips – if you put a lump each of a few colors, they can mold and shape in the car and then put their clay in the container when they are not using it…I got the clay at hobby lobby – I do not recommend the cheap kind they have at the dollar store as it sticks to everything.  The clay from hobby lobby goes a long way and is very long lasting.  We have some that has been played with for almost two years!
