  • I am looking to sell some used books (not on this forum) from my son’s kindergarten year and would like to ask what the general guidelines are as far as price goes?  If books have only been used for one child, in good condition, what would be a reasonable price to go on? For example, is 75% of the new price too high or is 50% a bit low…..??  Do you ladies have any advice on this, some rough guidelines?

    Thanks!

I always look at the other listings on homeschoolclassifieds.com and perhaps Amazon.com before posting on homeschoolclassifieds or Craigslist or local places on Facebook.  I kind of get a feel for prices and condition of the book, then I price mine competitively, occasionally slightly lower to give myself a slight advantage.

I do similarly as Sara.  When I’m buying, I generally like to get things for about 1/2 off, but am willing to pay more if I know it’s not likely to be found cheaper somewhere else.  Good luck:)  Gina

You can also check the ‘for sale’ forum at Well Trained Minds.  There is a lot of activity on that and you can get a feel for what things are selling for.  In general, I like to find things for 50% of the original price unless it is an item that is difficult to find.  That is also my guideline for selling things — about 50% off unless it is in unusually good condition.
