Hello, I have seen lots of posts about Christmas and gifts but none that I have seen talked about group gift ideas.  My in-laws have asked if there were any ideas that we could think of for a gift that they could get all three of children for Christmas.  It can’t be thousands of dollars!  I’m thinking a couple hundred would be about right as they don’t have a lot of money right now.  This would be THE gift from Grandpa and Grandma and they have always gone a little overboard in the past when they have had more monetary resources.  I don’t think they are used to this feeling, to be honest!Wink

I have ds 6, dd8 and dd4.  They are very good at playing games with all three together.  HIGHLY imaginative, the younger two are VERY physically active and tend to break  not well made things accidentally by simply playing very physically!  Undecided    We have a play kitchen and they use it all the time.  We don’t have any larger outside toys but I can’t think of any that would not be way out of the price range!

I want to encourage this new type of giving in my ILs and I don’t have any ideas!  Well, I came up with a telescope since we are studying Astronomy this year but I don’t know if it is possible to get a whorthwhile one for the right price.

Thank you to any who take the time to read this rather long-winded post!

My mother in law is getting our girls (ages 6,5 and 2) this –

My mother is getting them a wii – hoping that it’s a good way to get some energy out during our LONG winter.

I had also suggested a children’s museum membership.  My kids also REALLY enjoy their barbie jeep and if your dd8 isn’t too big she’d still be able to ride, our very petite 12 year old neighbor could still drive ours last year. (probably don’t want to get a barbie one with a ds! but the neighbor boys don’t seem to mind driving ours!!!)

Here’s the piano program at Timberdoodle and it looks like it includes a LOT more songs for just $10 more – PLUS free shipping AND you get to support Christians.  🙂

Thanks!  I really liked the Timberdoodle piano program!  I have been wanting to get the kids some music lessons but couldn’t afford it.  This may be perfect. Laughing  I’ll show my hubby and see what he thinks.   Much appreciated!

We live near putt putt golf… one year my mom got the whole family a yearly pass.  We had so much fun making family memories together.  Putt Putt is expensive!  It was so nice to go and not have to think about busting the budget 🙂

We also have other attractions around us (we’re in FL).  We have Gulf World, Water slide parks, junior museums, etc.  Any of those types of things near you???

I also vote for family memberships to places like the Zoo, the Museum, Nature Centers, the Y, or other good places to go for the year!

I second the family memberships to zoos, museums, science centers, etc. That’s one of the things we asked for this year! It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

Hi!  Thanks for all the input!  We live near a bigger centre that has a Telus World of Science so I will put that on my “hubby look-at list” and see what he thinks of this idea as well. Laughing  I’m hoping that something on the list will be approved of by the ILs!

Last year my father bought our kids (9, 6, 3, and 1 year old todayLaughing) a teeter-totter ($150) and a sandbox ($190) from Sam’s Club for Christmas. We bought the kids a zipline (Fun Ride Deluxe, I think it was called) for the backyard, too. All of these things have seen LOTS of use and are loved still. I think any would make a great gift!

Another great gift is magazine subscriptions. My kids enjoy getting them in the mail and pour over them each month. They currently get Ranger Rick, Your Big Backyard and Wild Animal Baby along with Nature Friend. These are really treasured, too.

    Blessings,

    Christie
