Hello, Ladies 🙂
I am Robin from the California Central Valley. My husband and I have eight nestlings and one on the way. My two oldest daughters are from my previous marriage, and were public schooled per their father’s preference. The oldest is grown and married, with a little one of her own. Circumstances regarding my ex have changed dramatically this past summer, and we are beyond thrilled to be able to bring dd#2 home to school this year! I am new to the CM approach, but am very much looking forward to getting my feet wet here. We recently moved to a more rural setting, just outside of town, and it feels like the perfect time and place for new beginnings. Greetings from Orchard House!
Our nestlings are: Eliza–22, Violet–16, Will and Rose–11, Thomas–7, Grace–5, Mary–3, and Jewel–16 months
missingtheshireMemberVery nice to meet you Robin and I am sure you will receive a warm welcome here. We are a diverse group who are all in various stages of the home school journey – some pure CMers and some who use a more eclectic mix with a lot of CM thrown in – I fit into the last group. My twin daughters are almost finished with high school and so my journey is almost at an end but there are many here who are starting or in the middle. This group of ladies are a huge blessing to me, and I am sure they will be to you as well. Enjoy the journey and your new home. Blessings, Linda
Cindie2ddsMemberHi Robin, and what beautiful names your dear ones have!
Nestlings NineMemberThank you, Cindie. They are actually forms of their true names, in one way or another–for privacy’s sake. Except for Violet, whom I allowed to choose her own name. She named herself after Violet Incredible (lol) and the fact that my dd’s favorite color is blue. My name is the real deal.
Linda, my middle name is Eclectic. Robin Eclectic.
missingtheshireMemberI love that Robin, does the name Eclectic suit your personality would you say? I think it is great. Welcome. Linda
cherylramirezParticipantWelcome! I was born in and grew up in San Diego…waaaaaay downt the coast! My late f-i-l lived in the central valley too. We were a military family so we also lived in Alaska, DC and Hawaii, but I spent MOST of my life in Californy! We live in Texas now, looking forward to owning rural property ourselves one day. That will be the perfect setting for y’all to have CM education.
EsbyMemberWelcome!
LindseyDParticipantWelcome, Robin! You are going to be blessed by this site!
revwifeParticipantWelcome Robin! We’re from Los Angeles, but we now live in TX (military move). You will love it here!
Blessings –
Carla
Nestlings NineMemberYes, Linda, I would say that my personality is eclectic, which I think makes for a good balance with my wonderfully phlegmatic husband. But seriously, my middle name is Elizabeth. 😉
So many from Texas! *sigh* We’ve talked of moving there for years, but our oldest daughter and our aging parents with health issues are here in CA, so we are here, too, for now.
Thank you so much for the warm welcome!
RebekahyParticipantHi Robin! I grew up in the central valley! All my family is still there. The weather there is greatly missed – even the heat, even the fog, as now we’re in the midwest and it’s SO cold for SO many months. I wouldn’t mind three months of cold, but we get so much more, and I digress…
Welcome to the board, so excited that you’re able to have all your kiddos home with you now and that you get to be close to your daughter and grandbaby. Welcome to scm – we have lots of great discussion here and look forward to having you join in!
Rebekah
missingtheshireMemberElizabeth is a lovely name – and an eclectic Elizabeth even more so!! Linda
