We are doing a study of various countries in Asia this year, and we are currently studying China.  We have been reading about the Communist Army and their 6,000 mile march to escape Chang Kai Shek’s Nationalist Army and to establish themselves in China in the 1930’s.  We discovered a wonderful book in the library by Jean Fritz called “China’s Long March: 6,000 Miles of Danger”.  She interviewed survivors of the march in order to write the book.  It is told from the perspective of the Red Army and their passion for their cause, their loyalty to Mao Zedong and the physical hardships they faced are clearly presented.  We are really enjoying this book and thought I’d share if anyone else studies this portion of history.
