Getting Started and Cambridge Latin=Latin 1? 2?

We used these books all last year–made it to lesson 52 in Getting Started and Stage 3 of Cambridge. I loved it! It was one of my favorite enrichments to do during the day because I found the lessons easy to understand and the way that they built clicked with me. The stories are fun and the pictures in the Cambridge are beautiful.

This year we will pick up where we left off but my oldest is now a 9th grader.

Could last year’s work “count” as his Latin 1 for a foreign language requirement even though he was in the 8th grade? How am I supposed to know what “counts” for his high school transcript?

I’m sure that my French classes in high school and college consisted of going through typical textbooks so it’s hard for me to shake that mindset.

I told my son that I’d like to finish going through these two books this year and then, if he chooses French, it will be easiest for me to help him with that but if he switches to something else he will likely be on his own a lot because I have 5 others younger than him.

Does anyone have thoughts on the matter?

    Thanks!
