First, I am really loving this curriculum, really. I knew it was a 5 day curriculum and thought that would be easier to get through than it is, but am trying to learn to just go with the flow. I’m just getting to the 2nd term! And I was excited about the commentaries. But now that I’m looking at all the reading, I’m a little intimidated. I was just barely getting in the chapter of bible and discussion around that! How do you read an entire chapter of the bible and of the Exodus for Children in one day and not loose their attention? My kids are 9, 7, 5, 3, 4 mths (and no, I don’t expect the last 2 to listen 😉 Is this a challenge for others or am I missing something?

Personally, with children of those ages, I would probably stick to a children’s Bible and be content, knowing that they will visit the same material several times over the course of their lives.  I might read the comentary on my own and comment on the back ground info as it seems appropriate.

Thanks, that is a good idea. At the rate I am getting through this I sometimes wonder if we will get all the way through history so they actually could do it again someday, sheesh!

When I used Gen-Duet & Ancient Egypt my kids were young as well and I also read from the Bible and simply used the Ganz for myself to motivate discussion on occasion. I did not read that to the kids … much too long and too much repetition for their ages. I also relied more on quality picture books than on too much narrative for Egypt and focused mostly on Joseph’s Egypt for that time around.

I also skipped the commentary books with my first grader.  When she is in 7th it will probably be a nice addition.

Ok, thanks everyone! I chose to read the intro to the commentary as an intro to Exodus, and will take your advice and just read it for myself.
