Gene edwards books?

Hi, I’m just learning about the cm method and am planning for my ds next year. He will be turning 6… I was wondering if anyone is familiar with gene edwards novels? I wanted to use his chronicles of heaven series to supplement e.g. “The beginning” to read alongside the story of Abraham, “the Escape” for exodus etc. I also wanted to use his first-century diaries types of novels in studying the life of Paul.my question is, does anyone know what age range would be best to use these books as a read-aloud? I’m guessing my 6 year old would be too young, but what would possibly be the earliest age to benefit from these? Thanks very much!
