    I have the revised eclectic McGuffey’s Readers for sale, (hard, blue/orange cover). I have 1-4 and 6. I am asking $8.50 shipped each, or I’ll sell all 5 of them for $30 shipped. They are in excellent to mint condition.

    I am interested in the set.  Can you tell me more about how they were revised?

    The original series came out I believe around 1830, these came out around 1880 I believe. I’m not sure on all the changes, but I know that the revised edition lends itself much better to a phonetic-based approach to reading, where I found the original series more word-based. I also find the wording a bit easier for today’s children to understand. Both contain stories of moral and Christian value.
