Thought some would like to know that four more Opal Wheeler composer bios are available now. I saw them here first, but I’m sure they could be gotten at Amazon or another outlet.

    They are:

    1) Paganini, Master of Strings; 2) The Story of Peter Tchaikovsky,3) Peter Tchaikovsky and the Nutcracker Ballet, and 4) The Adventures of Richard Wagner

What ages are these recommended for?  Would they be appropriate/interesting to a 6 year old?

    Thanks,
    Jen

I’m afraid the material would be above a 6yr. old. At least mine didn’t show the interst until age 8. On the Zeezok site (the publishers) recommend 3rd-6th, which I think is right on.

However, the Getting to Know the World’s Greatest Composer series by Mike Venezia were gobbled up by mine at that age. They are easy to find at the library.

At that age, my children also enjoyed (and still do) the Classical Kids cd stories about the composers. This website is a good one, too.

Thanks Rachel…kinda suspected that might be the case, but you never know.  I’ll keep these in mind for when our kiddos are a bit older…and look into some of the others for next year (which I am starting to plan for.)

MamaSnow, the most important part is to play, play, play the music in these young years.
