    Hi Everyone,

    I just purchased Oxford First Ancient History by Roy Burrell for $24.95 plus shipping from the Oxford University Press website. They acknowledge that it is now out of print, but the website is still selling the book until they run out of copies, I guess.

    I am sorry to tell you but many of us have ordered this book from Oxford University Press only to find out that the order will never be processed because it is out of print and no longer available. I would strongly suggest calling OUP and checking on the status of your order. They will probably tell you the same thing they have told all of us. I don’t know why their website continues to allow people to place their order even though it will never be processed. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I didn’t want you to be waiting on a book that will probably never come.

    Rowmom, I’m sorry to have to tell you that that site is not good.  Many people have tried it over the past few months, and Oxford doesn’t send it.  I think that you will have to keep looking.  =(   Here is the post (your info is near the end).

    I had found a copy several weeks ago on Ebay and bought it accidentally.  It was listed in pounds, as it was in the UK, but I assumed (wrongly) that if I clicked on “Buy it Now,” it would take me to a page where I would confirm that I actually wanted to buy it.  I hoped that it would do the converstion to dollars so I’d know how much it would cost, but nope.  So I paid just over $100 for a book that I’m still watching the mail for.  :/  However, my dear friend on the west coast found this book for me in a library’s discard pile and bought it for me for less than $10! If the copy I bought ever arrives, I hope to put it for sale on Amazon or Ebay.  They are out there, but boy! They are hard to track down!
