Have any of you used the newly available “A Journey Through Learning” downloads, and if so, which ones do you use and how do you like them?

We’ve been using TQ for years; I had no idea these were out! They look wonderful for my younger ones, like a dream come true! I’m glad you asked this question & look forward to hearing responses. Glad you asked! Laughing Heather

They do look great don’t they?  I’m definitely interested in the Notebook pages for my 4th grader, but I can’t be sure whether or not the binder builders would be useful for my K and 1st grader.  Also, I’m not sure about the timeline stuff.  I hope we get some clarity!

They have only been out for about a month so not many people have used them, let alone gotten very far with them. There has been some talk on the TQ yahoo group about them. Here is a quote from one of the writers of the binder-builders/notebook pages/timeline stuff:

“The Binder-Builder was created to go hand in hand with TQH. BUT, you DO NOT have to use all of the parts! The Notebooking pages are geared to those children that are already writing well. They are meant to be used as a type of “re-telling” or “note taking.” They have b/w images on them and many have questions to answer on the form, or even a place to glue or draw the subject being studied. With that said, they could also be used as a “hand writing” tool. To encourage writing. Notebooking is a great way to teach and correct spelling and grammar skills in a fun way! And remember that you do not have to use every notebooking page every day! Use them as YOU would like.
The timeline is a great way for all ages to just get a visual image of where things happen in history. It can be as simple (for very young kids) as gluing on the image of the person being studies to (for older kids) more indept research of that time period. (events, rulers, wars, etc.)
The Binder-Builder serves as a great way to “re-tell” what was learned that day. After, completeing the lesson, the booklets allow the child to write or draw what they have learned. Usually the Binder-Builder is enjoyed by kids up through middle school. It is much like scrap-booking! But, we do have many highschoolers who love doing them. So. that will depend on your child!”

I haven’t decided myself on the notebook pages and the binder builder. I am planning on getting the timeline figures as soon as it’s out for the TQ we’re using (AOR1). From what I understand, the figures go in order with the TQ guide and cover all the stuff covered in TQ. Should make it very easy to do a timeline with our history studies.
