In honor of today’s Electoral College vote, we’re taking 19% off the price of our three-part audio series Electoral Apocalypses: How America Survived Three Elections Even More Divisive than 2016.
I have these and have enjoyed them immensely. A slightly simplified explanation of the complicated John Adams’ loss (i.e. Quasi-War, his vindication coming too late), but recommended, just the same.
Another excellent series by Jim Weiss. I highly recommend them. My 14YO and I enjoyed all three of them.
I would add that I strenously disagree with Weiss’ conclusion of the source of each party’s traceability back to the Federalists and Republican-Democrats.
In platform, values, and principles, modern Republicans aren’t connected to the low- or high-Federalists, nor is the modern Democrat Party connected to Jefferson’s democratic-Republicans.
So, that is something to discuss after listening.
I still recommend, though, as supplementation to other historical sources.
I’m getting ready to listen to the second one tomorrow.
