First Grade Language Arts?

So my first grader has basically sailed through Level 2 and Level 3 of the reading kits offered by SCM. Once I realized he was quickly bored with Level 2, we moved up to Level 3. Well, we finished that last week.

Now what? I don’t know where to go from here. This is my first year HS’ing and my first year with SCM. I saw that the Pathway Readers we have been using through SCM have workbooks and some language arts materials on their website and I was thinking about picking those up for the rest of the year as activities and then starting something new in second grade.

    Suggestions?

    Thank you.

Are you having him do copywork? Generally speaking, LA for 1st grade includes copywork and oral narration. For reading, just have him read books! The Pathway Readers are great too, but skip the workbooks!

Agree with Mama Nickles.  Copywork, narrations, and some sort of reading practice.  Definitely skip the workbooks!

When my DC get going with reading, we alternate Mcguffey Readers with more fun books like Frog and Toad or Christian Liberty Press Nature Readers.
