I see this was already mentioned above but I will say it also: Wedgits keep mine busy for quite awhile (I even like them)
I got two sets of them so we can make more creative things.
Also Jenga is a game my youngest can play by himself, and mine keeps very bust with bristle blocks and hero factory figures.
HTH!
andreamParticipantWe also love magnetic mosaics

And light bright
Both of these are also good for older ones to keep hands busy while listening to reading.
butterflylakeParticipantGeoboards
matching socks (lifeskills!)
not sure what these are called – flat wooden shapes with notches. build by joining the pieces at the notches.
NinaParticipantbutterfly lake ~ are you thinking of lincoln logs?
missceegeeParticipantMore good reminders and new ideas!
DS4.5 folds and puts away all of his laundry and can match socks. He mastered this this year. I encourage everyone to teach laundry skills young bc the kids are capable. Ds10 and dd13 do all kid washing and dd7 and ds4.5 fold and put away their own. Dd7 will learn to do the wash this year.
Wedgits currently live at Nana’s house, but maybe we could bring those home for a while. He loves Lincoln Logs.
Anyone have anymore quiet table activities to suggest?
butterflylakeParticipantI was thinking of Slotto.
You can look up TreeHaus Slotto wooden construction sets on Amazon. I bought a set for my ds at Kohl’s over a year ago, but the sets were on clearance. His set is made by Discovery Toys, but it is the same set as pictures on Amazon with instructions to build the plane and tower shown.
missceegeeParticipantSlotto is new to me, I’ll look that up. Thanks.
AmyParticipantMagformers – I am always looking for quiet activities for my little one to work on while we do family learning time and this is one thing that he LOVES and uses more than just a few times! Endless oportunities.
Other ideas and things that have worked for us: lincoln logs, playmobil items, geoboards work for a little while.
Good luck!
