I saw that the Memoria Press books have color illustrations.  From what I’ve seen of the Greenleaf books, they have black and white.  Can anyone tell me the difference between the editing/writing of these two companies?  I know they both took the original book and edited them, but how do they differ?  I must say I like the idea of color pictures since I have the youngers sit in with the olders and it holds their attention better, but if the writing is poor….

    Any thoughts?

I use the Memoria Press versions of the texts mainly b/c the typeset and illustrations appeal to me more. Just now, I read the chapter on Romulus in both and there are only a few very minor differences in wording, both read equally well. Either book would work just fine. See samples here: Greenleaf and Memoria Press.

I have never used the teacher guides for either, but that is where the difference lies, IMHO. The Greenleaf guide has more open ended questions and the Memoria Press is more workbook like. Take a look at the Greenleaf sample and the Memoria Press sample and you will notice the differences.
