Hi,
I don’t know much about this so I wanted to inquire if it would be a good way to add living math to our day. Is this considered living math? I was thinking of trying Math on the Level but that is too much initial expense.
Thanks,
Penny
CindySParticipantWe have enjoyed it when I’ve gotten it out (which I’d like to do more often). It does take some prep on your part, though, so consider that time aspect.
MistyParticipantI got it from the library and have used many of the games. It’s a great way to change things up or help re-enforce idea’s, also to just take a break from Mathusee. For me though I couldn’t do it everyday with 5 to school. As said by Cindy it does take some prep. And to be honest there are just days I don’t have time. So for us it’s a great “extra” but not a daily. Misty Oh.. just re-read your post. Yes it would be a great way to add living math!! sorry
JimmieMemberYes, it gives you hands-on ideas for games and activities for various math concepts. It is absolutely living math. I highly recommend the book. It was my first point of entry into the world of living math.
labellavitaParticipantYes! We love living math here! I find my children’s learning is so much faster, easier, deeper with real life examples instead of just worksheets, and I don’t have to shampoo, rinse, repeat, repeat, repeat (drill), they get it.
Laura.boraParticipantWhat exactly is Family math? Can someone post a link please?
TanyaParticipantIt is a book by Jean Stenmark. Here’s a link to amazon, but you might be able to find it in your library.
