For those of you who have used Family Math, could you tell me how you implemented it?

I copied the table of contents and marked the levels for each game. I have young dc so I really only use those games. I try to implement a game here and there. I want to do it more this year…maybe 1x a week. We may add it to our family night. Otherwise, we just do it at the end of lessons so we’re not rushed. They enjoy them.

Family Math is our main math “program.” I also try to incorporate real math learning as we go about our day together. Each morning someone will pick a game or activity from the book and then we all do it. Usually takes about 30 minutes. I have six daughters ages 10 and down. I have used RightStart and Rod and Staff Math, but the more I researched teaching math to young children, I felt the best move for us was to get rid of the textbooks. The girls have been doing great, and Grandma commented on how well they understand numbers. Now we also have more time in our day for other things, like reading more good stories or art or simply playing outside. I know that was more info than you asked for, but we are really enjoying every day with Family Math 🙂
