We usually watch a movie together as a family on Friday nights. We have no TV, but do have Netflix for this purpose, some educational stuff, and an occasional movie for just me and my DH.
BUT…we are pretty much out of ideas at this point as to what to add to our queue…sooo, we’d very much appreciate everyone’s suggestions 🙂
I’m not sure of the ages of your kids so these may or may not work for you. Also, we’re all boys (well, except me) so we go for more ‘actiony’ type stuff.
Both Narnia movies
Bolt
3-2-1- Penguins (I think they’re hilarious too)
VeggieTales – pretty much any of them
Next Avengers (the children of the Avengers – if you’re okay with fighting and the concept of superheroes, in particular Thor)
Reading Rainbow – we adults enjoy it too
Popular Mechanics for Kids – keeps all of us glued to the TV
A More Perfect Union and the Liberty Kids series
Dinotopia series (haven’t seen in a while but I think they’re okay)
Carmen Sandiego movies
Animals are Beautiful People
Legion of Superheroes (again, depends on your feelings about superheroes, but they’re geared to kids so are much cleaner than others)
the Sandlot movies – some of them may have a crude remark, but I can’t remember well
The following have a few “crude” comments, but they’re ones that I’m okay with. Each parent is different though –
Underdog
Ice Age 1 and 2
Robots
Justice League (okay, we all love superheroes – my husband will watch them for hours)
the High School Musical movies – they’re clean, but cheesy – same with Camp Rock and Another Cinderella Story. Some attitude from kids towards their parents at times too.
These are some of our Netflix from the past year that the kids (mainly the 2 older children–boys ages 11 and 9) have like:
The Three Stooges
The Little Rascals
Johnny Quest
Around the World in 80 Days
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Davey Crockett
That Darn Cat
My Side of the Mountain
Muppets
The Love Bug
Swiss Family Robinson
Flash Gordon
The Apple Dumpling Gang
Mary Poppins
We’re really into watching the oldies! The boys LOVE slapstick humor, not my favorite, but it’s clean and it makes my heart smile to hear them giggling and rolling on the floor in fits of laughter…
