    Hi friends,

Rachel from Australia here. Just a heads up. I was reading the first chapter of Hungry Planet by Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio (well known on this forum), and came across a mistake by the author, and just wanted to let you all know it! The writer decsribes the Australian man hunting for “porcupines” and eating them, but — there are NO porcupines in the wild in Australia! Echidnas are native and in the wild, and so what I think has happened is that the writer of the book has made notes about the story but couldn’t recall the word echidna – possibly, the local man used the old expression “spiny anteater” and they translated it into porcupine when they wrote up the story. But they should have written echidna:)

Thanks for pointing that out, Rachel. We’ve added a note to our Links and Tips page for the Visits to… series. 🙂
