I’ve downloaded many ePub books for my ipad/iphone from project gutenberg. The stories are fine, but many have no pictures showing, though the words are formatted with a blank spot where the picture should be. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Christie
suzukimomParticipantI guess my first question is are you sure the project gutenberg book included the pictures? And if so you downloaded the version that said “with images”? – some of the books just don’t have the images there…
DesParticipantI agree with Suzukimom, some don’t have the images available, but some do. You just have to make sure you download the ones that have the images.
missceegeeParticipantYes, I did download the with images files. There just aren’t any images.
suzukimomParticipantdo you have any software on your computer that you could use to look at the epub file, to see if the images are there?
missceegeeParticipantUmmm, I’m not sure. I have a new Macbook Pro and whatever it has. I’ll have to snoop a bit. Thanks for the idea.
Doug SmithKeymasterWe’ve downloaded ePubs from Project Gutenberg with pictures that have worked fine on an iPad. It is possible there is something wrong with the particular file you’ve downloaded where pictures aren’t really included or it’s not coded properly.
You can view ePub files on your computer with the free Adobe Digital Editions. It hasn’t been updated in a long time so doesn’t support some of the newest ebook features but it should be fine for basic books like those from Project Gutenberg.
