What chapter books would you suggest for my dd5 who loves to read? I am trying to come up with a summer reading basket for her to enjoy at her leisure.

She has already read and enjoyed the following:

    The Milly-Molly-Mandy Story Book

many books by Thornton Burgess entitled The Adventures of…

    The Boxcar Children

All of A Kind Family (I plan to get the rest of this series for her birthday in August)

Would any of the Lamplighter books be appropriate?

We (ds7 and dd5 and I) are currently finishing the Module 1 Literature selections from SCM and she has enjoyed all of them.

    TIA

Cobble street cousins and lighthouse family series — I’m blanking on the author but she’s written a lot.

Books by Emma Brock are popular with young girls in my library. I personally have all boys so I have to take someone’s word for it. 🙂

She might also enjoy books by Eleanor Estes (Moffats, Ginger Pye) and Carolyn Haywood’s Betsy series.

Thank you ladies! I enjoyed Sarah Plain and Tall and I’m sure she will also. We will try the others as well.

My kids are enjoying Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books and they loved Here’s a Penny books, also Homer Price, but that one you would probably have to help her with several of the words.
