When you order these online through SCM, how long before you have ‘access’ to download them? Also, for the mp3 downloads, is this something I can make a back-up copy of on a CD-R? I’m new to everything online, so any help would be appreciated. 🙂

ps: Sorry – I am sure I picked the wrong ‘section’ for this post, but I just wasn’t sure what category this topic would fall under. ??

Great questions. When you order online, at the end of the ordering process (which is done through PayPal’s system) it will tell you to wait a few seconds and you will be returned to the SCM site. When you are returned, you will see your download links. Just click on those and your files will download to your computer.

If, for some reason, you miss those links, you will also receive an SCM receipt via e-mail that contains links you can use. And if, for some reason, you miss both of those, just contact us and we’ll send the links to you. 🙂

Please do make a back-up of any files you download from us. We encourage that habit! Copy them either to an external drive or onto a CD for safekeeping.

If you would like a little preview of what the download process might look like (on a Windows computer), check out Doug’s tips on the Download Help page. He’s constantly adding more ideas and improvements, so it’s a great resource for you.

PS for those of you on Macs: The Download Help page is pretty much Windows specific because we rarely get any questions or problems from people downloading to a Mac.

(By the way, as you can see, we’ve added a new Forum section for tech questions. Thanks for the idea!)

Oh…..I guess I missed the download links when my order was processed. I did not receive an e-mail either, though. I am always prompted when something goes into my Junk file, and I just checked to be sure I didn’t miss it but there’s nothing there. I placed an order a couple of days ago so I should have received the receipt e-mail from SCM by now, right? Or should I keep watching for it? As I mentioned, I’m new to all of this and the patience you always express, Sonya, is greeted with heartfelt appreciation. 🙂

The other question I had was about making a backup of the MP3 download onto a CD-R. Is this possible?….and if so, am I able to use this on any CD player or does it have to be downloaded onto an MP3 player only. I’m not with the times – by choice – so I do not own an MP3 player. [If it were up to our family, we’d delight in being neighbors to the Ingalls! (chuckle) ]

My order consisted of a printed book to be shipped, an e-book, and an audio MP3 download. What a helpful learning experience this will be. 😉

That is strange, Rebecca! Yes, the receipt and download links should be instantaneous. I just e-mailed you new links to use, and Doug is making sure your printed book gets to you. Let me know if you don’t receive the links this time either, please.

As for your question on the MP3 file, I’m going to let Doug answer that. I’m not sure. 🙂

    Sonya,

I got your e-mail and was able to download both files. (Thanks, Doug, for the great tips on the download help page! I would not have figured it out otherwise.)

I *was* able to burn a copy of the MP3 audio download onto a Music CD-R and it plays just fine on my CD player. (Yay!) I’m looking forward to listening to your ‘Reaching Your Childs Heart’.

Thank you again for your assistance. Hopefully next time I won’t be so much trouble. 😉

No trouble at all, and now I know that you can burn the audio file onto a CD-R and it will play on a CD player. Thanks!
