Doing SCM Module One and loving it!

We have been doing the history/Bible for module 1 for the past 3 weeks – it is fabulous! It has made CM so simple yet still rich. I love the idea of breaking down Genesis into 8 easy to remember people/events.
We are also using Visits to Africa which is just as wonderful.
My kids especially enjoyed reading The Butter Man last week. Our whole family is learning so much.

We are in Module 4 after attempting the same time frame with another curriculum for 3 weeks. My daughter and I are loving it! I had wanted to use SCM all along, but allowed my high school daughter to choose. She is very grateful we were able to make the switch, and so am I!
We use it during our Bible time in the morning, so we don’t use the geography portion which was just added, but we love the history/Bible/artifacts . We are learning so much by taking it slowly. I agree that quoting Abraham, Isaac, Jacon, Joseph, and Creation, Fall, Flood, Babel are very helpful tools!
We are doing Module 1 as well, after doing 5 and 6 and really enjoying it, too! Lishie and Susie, I was wondering where you got the list of the eight events/people? I didn’t come across that in the guide…it’s probably right there in front of me!
As suggested we wrote it out on a poster board so it functions as a very simple time line. I was surprised at how much my kids liked it even though it was not as elaborate as other time lines.
