Do your young ones have a personal calendar to learn the days of the week, numbers, tomorrow, etc?  We’re using them this year for dd7 and ds6 and I don’t know if I care for it.  We track weather daily and then at the end of the month we have 5 questions asking something like, “Were there more sunny days or cloudy days?”  They don’t seem to care as much for them either so I’m wondering if we should drop them.  We have a big one on the wall that they can take the date off and learn the same thing without weather tracking (math).  Thanks.

I had a calendar binder, but dd6 got tired of it after a month or so. I bought her a small $1 calendar with kittens on it to hang by her desk. She understood it all within a week without what was busywork for her. Just what worked here.

    We have this calendar.

The last year included was 2013, so I need to get creative for the year, but DS 7 is still using it for everything else.  DD9 has a real monthly calendar with the blocks where she added birthdays and special events.

My older children used a calendar that I bought maybe from Rainbow Resources.  It came with tons of stickers and they customized it each month. My youngest has the big calendar on the wall and this year at 6 she has the calendar binder with pages for tallies, months, days, weather, temperature, days in school, etc… I bought it as a download from Confessions of a Homeschooler.  She loves it, but that is her kind of thing.

I say if they don’t like what you are using, try something else.  Calendars from the dollar store are great.  My 15,14, and 10 year olds put everything on the ipod calendar. But for teaching the calendar to young ones, I do like the binder or the sticker one we had years ago.  Don’t know if they sell it anymore.
