Why can’t you have it both ways??

Our children go to Sunday School with other children and worship service with us.

My children LOVE to go to Sunday School to spend time with other children and learn from other adults besides their parents.  It is an uplifting time for them.  Sure, they learn much more Scripture at home, but our church views children’s classes as building on and encouraging home discipleship.  My husband and I have the chance to study the Bible and fellowship with other parents, and encourage one another.  I don’t mind my children being in age segregated groups 1 or 2 hours out of the entire week.  They sit with us in worship service and we have nightly family Bible time as well as regular Bible reading and memorization during school.

Our youth group is led by various parents, each one serving within his or her spiritual gifts.  I think the youth group at our church is integral to bringing in youth who do not come from Christian homes.  The parents in the youth group truly take these youth under their wing.  Some do fall away, but many stay.  Even more come back.  Our church has several generations of families serving and worshiping together – and yes, we have age segregated classes.

Family integrated church may be desirable to some or even many, but it is not the only way.  Isn’t it wonderful that we live in a country where we can choose where and what kind of church we attend?

Bible class is different from the worship service. 🙂 Bible classes or Sunday School is a time for reading, learning, teaching, and training of ourselves and our children. The worship service is directed to God and focused on Him and what He has commanded us to do to please Him.
