Hi there – we tried the air pressure vs. water pressure experiment today in the day 2 section of the curriculum, and we were not able to do it successfully.  I’m wondering if anyone can give me any help with this?  When we turned the glass upside down and removed the paper, all of the water came right out.  Any advice?  Thanks!

Is that the one where the air pressure is supposed to push against the card and hold the water in the glass? If so, I think the problem is that you removed the paper. You should hold the card so it’s touching the rim of the glass all the way around. Keep holding it while you turn the glass upside down, then carefully let go of the card (over a sink, just in case). Don’t remove the card; just let go of it. Does that help?

Ahhh!  That makes sense now – when I read the instructions, I understood it to mean remove the card, and not just “let go”.  I will try it again.  Now I’m wondering why I thought that would work – oh well!  Thanks for the help.
