Regarding the Delightful Reading program; I recently switched to CM teaching methods and I just ordered my curriculum for next year. My son is 6 and is reading at a level 2. (We used All About Reading)
What level does Delightful Reading take a child to? What is next, if he is past it?
I am sorry if this sounds silly. It was clear to me with All About Reading, because it only went to level 4.
I guess I just need to know the ‘span’ Delightful Reading covers and what is next, if anything?
I’m not familiar with the levels of AAR, so I’m afraid I can’t give you a comparison that way, but here is a sample of the last reading passage in the Delightful Reader. Hopefully that will help you compare it to what you’ve already done.
To my many friends,
I have been eager for you to get to this part of the book, so I could write a word or two to you. Look at the great number of words you have learned! Well done! . . .
During and after you use Delightful Reading, you would have the student practice reading aloud. We recommend the Pathway Readers. Once the student can read aloud More New Friends with little or no help from you, he should be pretty much “good to go.” 🙂
