What does a professor mean when he says to ‘watch out for dangling verbs’?

I haven’t heard that particular descriptive phrase used before, but it would seem to imply that the verb doesn’t have a clear subject who is doing the action, or at least the wording could be misunderstood. I Googled the phrase “dangling verb” and found some examples on this Effective Writing site. About halfway down the page, you’ll find “Avoiding dangling verb forms.” Maybe those examples will help.

Thanks, Sonya. My son emailed me that question last night. My google search did not return this helpful site.
