Cursive first?

I am trying to decide whether to start my 5 year old out with cursive. He seems to have fine motor issues and I hear that cursive is easier to start with. I’ve been working on his fine motor skills before we begin anything but I’d like to decide what to start with. I know that a lot of people don’t even teach cursive anymore and I worry that it might confuse him since he is learning to read and the letters will look different. I’d love opinions on this. Thanks.
