I’m sorry if this has been discussed a ton already, but is this book OOP?  I can’t find it anywhere except for REALLY expensive.  Library is not an option, because we will be in Tanzania.

I’m having trouble with Shipwrecked Sailor, too.

I found Croco’Nile used online as a previous library book at Amazon.  Very reasonable, under $10.  I also found A Water Snake’s Year on Amazon too.  Haven’t had as good of luck with Shipwrecked Sailor or Yellow and Pink.

I don’t think Croco’nile is worth worrying about.  Cute and all but non-essential.  Just my two cents….

Yes, Croco-Nile is OOP now, and I agree with crazy4boys about its necessity. Shipwrecked Sailor isn’t all that necessary either; it’s an old Egyptian fable.

Do you have any suggestions for replacements, or even just what I should look for in a replacement?  Thanks ladies!

Is it for studying Egypt?  How old are your kids?  I have several suggestions for books on Egypt, but it would be helpful to know the ages (and if that’s even what you’re looking for!).

The kids will be in 1st grade to go along with Module 1.

We studied Egypt in 1st grade too, but didn’t use Module 1 because I hadn’t found SCM yet.  Our favorites were:

    1.  Mummies, Pyramids and Pharaohs – Gail Gibbons

    2.  Ancient Egyptians and Their Neighbors – Marian Broida

    3.  Egyptian Diary: Journal of Nakht – Richard Platt

    4.  Mummies Made in Egypt – Aliki

    5.  Mummies in the Morning (Magic Tree House) – Mary Pope Osbourne (twaddley but usually available)

Do you need Rome and Greece or is that a different module?

You can read my reviews of the books we read for “ancient history” here.  http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/1212796-heather?page=1&shelf=ancient-history

Thank you so much for sharing your list and the link.  I put on hold all of the books that I could from your list at my local library and I’ll check them out before purchasing.  I won’t be able to use the library when it’s time to study these books, but I will be able to look them over before I choose.  Thanks!

A great book to reading during your study of Egypt is, Boy of the Pyramids. We loved that book.

I second Richpond’s suggestion.  My girls really like it–we’re reading it right now.

    Faith 🙂
