Can any of you share your journey into perimenopuase? I am 42. I have had health issues for a while. And had had some hormonal imbalances. I am currently taking natural progesterone..and have been since last October. But never has it caused me to be very light-spotting during that time of month. I have had that going on for a few months now. At this moment I feel like I am prego, but am not! Did any of you have this as a symptom too? My belly is shaped like I am pg, and last wk my monthly was once again very light. I am also very moody..and just want to hide and cry!  Hence, feeling like I am prego or it is premenstrual syndrome after the fact of having monthly last week!!

I am also experiencing wishy washy feelings and cannot make up my mind on things. Prob some more things I am leaving out. But just wanted for you to share your experience down this road!! Thanks

I’m 31, and mine has eased up a lot, but not to the point of just spotting (although once or twice it has – I took a test, and it was neg.).  Sometimes I feel like you do, but mostly not.  Yet…  I have not researched this at all yet, but you posting has gotten my thinking – when could this start?  I remarked to my dh a few months ago that I’m really starting to feel “old” (as in, if you want any more children, we’d better get right on that).  I wonder if it’s normal to start feeling the fertility starting to drop?

I know I didn’t help much, but I do hope others answer you so that I can learn, as well!  🙂

I would have to write you a book.  LOL  I’ve been mixed up hormonally for years and it’s getting crazier–my aunt’s last visit was 3 1/2 weeks.  After 3 months of no visit.  I couldn’t possibly tell you all the stuff that I’ve had–you’d surely get bored first–but I’ve been mixed up since about 36 or so, sometimes it improves some, and sometimes it gets worse.  Have tried natural progesterone, had no real effect.  Was recently put on oral progestin, made me gain weight even though it’s not supposed to.  Am considering having everything zapped.  LOL  Can’t help either but have a LOT of sympathy!

    Hey there,

I am 45 and this has been much on my mind lately.  I find my periods are closer together (more like every 4 weeks whereas for 20 years they came every 5-6 weeks – I guess I am doing things backward!) and instead of 4-5 medium to light days, I have one very heavy day, a light day, nothing for three days and just when you think you are safe, one last spotting.  I don’t feel that ping in the abdomen mid-cycle anymore – I used to know I was ovulating then.  I think the most important helps are drinking plenty of water, eating well, and resting well.  I do feel older and need more rest to do all I used to take for granted! 🙂

Have you heard of this book? http://www.amazon.com/What-Your-Doctor-About-Premenopause/dp/0446673803.  It’s by Dr. John Lee, a big fan of natural progesterone and who got me to make a lot of changes in our diet and what kind of chemicals we’re exposed to that can influence hormones.  Don’t know if it’s helpful….just what came to mind.  Hope you get things figured out soon. I do my gyn check-ups at an Integrative Health place, which can be helpful for hormone testing, etc.  Blessings, Gina

@ Bookworm, would love to “read” your story!! LOL! Maybe it will help me to know if I am crazy or not! Thanks for the sympathy!

@ gcbsmommy, yes more rest is what I need! I feel like I am 82 instead of 42!

@ Gina, yes I know about Dr. Lee! That is how I am on natural progesterone! And know a lot about diet and all! We actually just recently went on a liver cleanse then a 6 day juice fast! It was great! BUT, we got back on a binge cause we thought we could! LOL! Stuff we usually eat every so often! So maybe that is why I am feeling real real bad!

I also got saliva testing done per Dr. Lee’s advice! That is how I knew I was bottomed out on progesterone!! Almost zilch!

Anyone else?? If you have time, you may write me your book!! LOL! I can’t believe how big my tummy is in two wk time! The weight I lost on the cleanse/fast…is coming back! All right there! LOL!

And the mood swings, geesh! Yell

Wrinkles, hot flashes gray hair and…  acne?! What? Not fair! 🙂 I would love more info from you ladies about this goofy season… I’m 41 and am seriously having hot flashes that are terrorizing my whole family. Windows open all night, car windows down, AC constantly (we’re in AK and our high was about 52 today!), so it’s affecting everyone. Not a whole lot of change in my flow or general discomfort during my monthly time, but the rest is kind of awful so far. How long does this last? I’m battling it with lots of exercise and chocolate, not necessarliy in that order.
