Copyright issues when printing SCM Art Portfolios?

  • If I own the digital download of SCM Art Portfolios / Stuff They Left Behind, can I get the images professionally printed using Office Max or Shutterfly or other such services? Any copyright issues with that? Thanks! 🙂

You are welcome to print the images for the use of your immediate household, either on your home printer or with a printing service. And if a professional printing service tells you that you need permission, let us know which portfolio you need to print and we’ll be happy to send you a permission letter.

Thanks, Jordan — you guys are great! 🙂

If you plan to have them printed you might want to compare the cost with buying our printed kits.

For example, OfficeMax charges $3.96 for an 8.5″ x 11″ print on 80# photo paper. That would be $31.68 for a set of eight prints. As 8″ x 10″ photo prints, Shutterfly is even more expensive at $3.99 each and Walmart a bit less at $2.84. None of those options can even get close to our quality and will cost about double our printed kits.

Our prints use a much thicker stock and they have a UV coating that protects both from scratches and fading from light exposure. Plus, you get the printed booklet and nice envelope to keep everything in that are not factored in the OfficeMax price.

We also have extra prints available without the whole kit if you want a copy for each child.

Must a kit be purchased before extra prints are purchased?

And I do LOVE your kits!! I own several of the artist sets and while I thought I would be happy with the digital, I really really like having the actual work hanging on the wall all of time. And yes, the quality is fabulous!

Unfortunately, I missed the sale on the “Stuff They Left Behind” sets and then delayed buying, so now I’m at the point of needing some and at over $6 for shipping just one set, that puts it out of my budget. So I thought maybe I’d buy the digital so I can have it now (when I need it) and then print off just a few of them.

But in the future, I’d rather just have the printed sets because they are very nice.

No, but you would be missing out on the booklet with the artist biography, information about each print with leading thoughts, suggested resources for further study, and how to do CM picture study information. That’s part of what makes up a good CM picture study.

Love the kits!!  Picture study is happening here in a simple way that works! Thanks to SCM!  I never thought we’d be doing these studies and enjoying ourselves.
