I would like to add in every year a snippet on our Constitution and Founding Fathers to have my kids very knowledge about the founding of our country and better prepared when they hit the HS level Civics and Govt.  I would like for them to be prepared to vote at 18. I would like to do this every year obviously with materials that are enjoyable and suited to their age level.  I would also like to incorporate the Uncle Eric books into one or more of our years, especially for my boys. Has anyone done this? Is there anything already out there?  Any suggestions?

Do you want Maybury-like perspective on this?  I ask, because his is a very specialized opinion reflecting a portion of the libertarian world—and a number of those people aren’t even all that big on voting (look where it’s gotten us, lol).  I can send you oodles of libertarian-leaning information, but if you want a more “mainstream” position you may want to let us know what perspective you want.  Many of the Founding Fathers were a little leery of voting, actually, too.  Wink

Well, I guess mainstream.  I have always considered myself conservative. Looking to just teach truth about our countrys founding.  I would definitely be willing to look though at what you recommend.  The Maybury books seem to get good reviews.  I would also love to hear more about their stand on voting. We could go to PM if we needed to. I am trying to educate myself as well along this journey 🙂

If your dc are in high school, the constitutional course offered online freeby Hillsdale College might be worth looking at.

Yes, this one (the one from Hillsdale) is good.  Sorry, I spaced out on this one for today and forgot to pick it back up.  Here is what I do with mine:  http://www.cato.org/cato-university/study_course/

    and this:  http://feestore.myshopify.com/products/foundations-of-american-constitutional-government

And as many of the Federalist Papers as you can convince your child to read.
