  • A good friend of mine asked if I knew of any books or curiculum that cover confidence building and responsibility for her 17 year old daughter who seems to have no confidence and she is worried about her. We don’t live in the same state, she emailed me, but I don’t really know of any books off the top of my head – anyone have any ideas. Her daughter is very sweet, just lacks confidence in herself and her abilities I think…..thanks Linda

The Search for Significance, maybe?  http://www.christianbook.com/search-significance-getting-glimpse-worth-through/robert-mcgee/9780849944246/pd/944244?event=CFN. I read it years ago and it was very good…about developing your confidence in Christ, not others opinions, abilities, etc.  I just noticed they have a teen version: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=search+for+significance&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=13666069850348458082&sa=X&ei=S7YyT8z3GYrDgAe1hqymBQ&ved=0CFgQ8wIwAg.  But I’m not familar with that. The adult version has a workbook. Hope she finds something helpful.  Gina

P.S. I don’t what their spiritual background is, but some of the topics in the adult version are:  fear of failure, justification, motivation for obedience, fear of rejection, forgiving others, shame, regeneration, dealing with emotional scars, dealing with sin, living by faith, renewing our minds, identifying false beliefs, etc.

Thanks Gina, they are a Christian family, and have a church, but they are a quiet family and I think their daughter like a lot of young girls is struggling with finding her place in the world and feels she is not good enough…I have two daughters who also struggle with finding their place so I understand – but this young lady is an only child and extremely sensitive from what I remember – I think she is a bit lost in this big world. I will send her mom those links and look at them myself – sound interesting. Linda

I hope this or something else helps.  Thanks for bringing the qu. up.  I hadn’t realized they had a teen version and will now consider adding this to our high school studies:)  Blessings, Gina

Thanks Gina I appreciate it – her mom was quite excited to have the links you offered, so hopefully it will help. Blessings, Linda
