Came across this quote in Keep a Quiet Heart by Elisabeth Elliot with an article about diligence and faithfulness in “little things.” I love the word picture of that small act of service being a fragment in an immeasurable ministry of love. Good thought for folding laundry!

“Great thoughts go best with common duties. Whatever therefore may be your office regard it as a fragment in an immeasurable ministry of love.” (Bishop Brooke Foss Westcott, b. 1825)

Good thought.  Now if I could just get my kids to grasp that instead of thinking that chores are something to try and whiz through (and then unhappily do over and over until actually done right).

A good thought not just for chores, but for where ever you are in life.  Maybe you have a job that you don’t like (or do like), maybe you don’t have a job and need one, maybe you are pulled different directions in caring for your children and a parent, etc, etc, etc.  All that we do is “a fragment in an immeasurable ministry of love.”  And that “ministry of love” is sharing Jesus with anyone and everyone we are around, though our actions, words and attitudes.
