Combining SCM with CHOW?

I am looking forward to doing SCM Genesis-Deut history with my youngest daughter, the only child I’m homeschooling in this last chapter of my homeschool career. This is my first time using SCM history. In the past, I’ve used MOH, TQ history, and AO. I really enjoyed reading CHOW to my other children. Has anyone ever combined the two? Has anyone every inserted the CHOW chapters where they would fit in? I’d love to hear. Thanks so much.
We did it one year when we were doing the Middle Ages and my kids were too young for SCM’s family book. So I just read through the Middle Ages chapters from CHOW while we read the other books from SCM. We read one chapter from CHOW per week and read from the SCM books the other days. We also added Draw and Write Through History, Middle Ages. It was a good year.
