    Hello,

I’m new to homeschooling and will be beginning my first year with a 7 and 10 year old.  I am in the process of planning our school year and I am undecided on whether to use the CMO or purchase the Planning Your Charlotte Mason Education bundle.  I am a hands-on person and feel I need to physically have something in my hand to hold.  However, I think using the CMO would save a lot of time and be easy to update or change.

I am wondering what has worked best for you.  Are there any of you that have both, and if so, is it overkill?

It is not overkill since they are not really the same thing. The Planning book walks you through the whole process of deciding what and when to teach, how to plan the terms, etc to create your plan. That’s it. How you record your plans and accomplishments is up to you. So…paper planner or electronic… 😉

The SCMO is where you imput your plan and then use it to mark your progress for the year as you get the lessons done. The advantage is that you can be flexible with SCMO in ways that paper planning is not – you miss something for a day or week and on paper, you have to re-schedule it. In the SCMO, it automatically adjusts to the next scheduled lesson.

Thank you for the clarification. I thought they were the same thing. This is all new to me and I want to make sure I get my children off to a great start. I appreciate your feedback.
